Gluten-free angel food cake

A light dessert that’s also gluten-free, this angel food cake recipe is sure to please! Use egg yolks to make crème brûlée. They’re delicious!


  • 11 egg whites
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup gluten-free flour
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla
  • Pinch of salt


  1. Beat egg whites with salt until frothy. Add cream of tartar and vanilla. Beat until stiff but not dry.
  2. Sift flour with powdered sugar and fold gently into egg whites.
  3. Bake in an ungreased tube pan for one hour at 300ºF.
  4. Cool upside down.

*The flour used contains the following ingredients: Organic rice flour, organic tapioca flour, organic chickpeas, organic rice bran extract, organic guar gum.

N.B. This recipe can also be made with wheat flour for people with no gluten-free diet.
